My thesis statement essentially goes like this:

How does Jack Gilbert (a cis-male, white, upper-middle class, romanticist) write impactful poetry as viewed through a postcolonial lens?

In my proposal I present questions I would like to answer regarding this thesis and the collection of his I would like to use mostly. My thesis statement may be too vague, it isn't much of an argument but rather an inquiry to creatively explore. Jack Gilbert writes pretty incredible love poems, but through a lens of post-colonialism I will be seeing the how his characters and themes reinforce or undermine our understandings of Gilbert’s experiences and our own relationships with his poems.
