If I had to choose a contemporary approach to analysis, I would definitely choose Poststructuralism. While I am familiar with Structuralism (and practicing using the structuralism lens), I have also practiced Poststructuralism through Foucault in Rhetoric a few semesters ago. As a poet I find myself often deconstructing the text and finding the non-sensical things. I love looking for what isn't there, what's missing and how that could affect a given text. Also, a text can't possibly have a single meaning, but many interwoven between one another that can be perceived differently depending an an individuals perspective. In order to get a proper analysis and understanding of any given text, you need many perspectives, and that's something I often do.
EC: I am very excited to continue to analyze S-Town now through more of a Poststructuralism approach because why not, it is a great approach.
